August 2011 Monthly Wrap-Up
Musical goal: do anything with the samples at hand
Technical goal: become one with Ableton Sampler
Yikes. I decided to spend a month manipulating samples. The ground rules: only samples, and only samples I cut from my own library, would count.
Well, now, that was a bad idea. I ain't no deft manipulator; ain't no Automator. Basically, my music this month was a bunch of crap. But, hey, I tried?
Week #31: Music for coke fiends! [Apologies to Demon Fuzz - Afreaka]
Week #32: Music for pixelated guitarists! [Apologies to Ralph Towner - Solo Concert]
Week #33: Music for second-rate ambient snobs! [Apologies to John Adams - Harmonium (ECM)]
Week #34: Music for people who like bad music! [Apologies to Kenny Wheeler - Angel Song]
Week #35: DANGER DAVE HAS HEARD SOME SMOKY LOUNGE MUSIC IN HIS TIME, YES HE HAS. [I stopped tilting at my samples-only windmill for this one.]
Plan for September: discotechque.
